Air Peace To Launch Direct Flights Between Nigeria And Israel In April

Air Peace, a Nigerian airline, is set to begin non-stop flights between Israel and Nigeria next month, following an aviation deal approved by Israel’s transport minister on Sunday.

The agreement, which still requires cabinet approval in Israel, will allow carriers from the two countries to operate flights between Tel Aviv and cities in Nigeria, including Lagos and Abuja. The move is expected to make the pilgrimage for Christians to the Holy Land smoother, as the trip currently requires a stopover in countries like Turkey or Ethiopia.

Nigeria’s Air Peace will be the first airline to fly directly, with twice-weekly flights beginning on April 20.

According to Israeli Transport Minister Miri Regev, Nigeria “maintains close ties with Israel in a wide variety of fields, alongside heavy traffic of pilgrims coming to Israel to visit the holy places in Christianity.” She added that launching direct flights “will contribute to strengthening of the business and cultural ties between the nations and between the governments.”
